Subject [jira] [Commented] (ACTIVEMQ6-52) Graceful Shutdown
Date Thu, 29 Jan 2015 09:35:34 GMT

Jeff Mesnil commented on ACTIVEMQ6-52:

The current implementation of the graceful shutdown expects the shutdown timeout to be specified
at configuration time.
But depending on the use cases, we would need to have this timeout be specified when the administrator
wants to stop ActiveMQ 6 (e.g. specify __now__ in case of emergency or 8-hour timeout for
a planned upgrade).

Would it be possible to add such timeout to the ActiveMQ6 server stop() method?

We would also like to suspend and _resume_ the server. This would modify the ActiveMQServer
interface) to be able to suspend or pause the acceptors with a graceful timeout *and* also
resume them without having to restart the whole server.

> We should provide a way for the system to gracefully shutdown connections allowing them
to finish their work before the server is going out.
> This could be done by issuing a close from Server to client on all the connections.
