Subject [jira] [Commented] (AMQ-2106) Allow broker to evenly distribute message groups among consumers
Date Fri, 28 Sep 2012 15:01:08 GMT

Gary Tully commented on AMQ-2106:

I think rebalance is not really possible, because once a group is assigned and the consumer
is valid, moving it will break the expectation of getting the full batch/group of messages.
But what we can fix is the allocation of new groups to the full complement of consumers. So
that new consumers can get their fair share of groups started after they connect.

> Currently the broker will not reassign message groups if new consumers becomes available
(or existing ones are removed). We could allow the broker to try reassign the message groups
when consumers are added/removed so that we have a even distribution among consumers.
