Subject [jira] Closed: (AMQCPP-19) Uuid class probably shouldn't use exception specifications
Date Sat, 02 Dec 2006 13:00:03 GMT

Timothy Bish closed AMQCPP-19.

    Resolution: Fixed

The use of exception specifications was done intentionally by the developers of ActiveMQ cpp.
 We believe that its good practice and will continue to do so. The fact that the MS compiler
feels it needs to warn you that it will ignore them is a shortcoming of that compiler, not
the code.

Thanks for you interest in activemq-cpp.

> activemq/util/Uuid.h contains exception specifications. This causes the Microsoft compiler
to warn:
> G:\activemq/util/Guid.h(46) : warning C4290: C++ exception specification ignored except
to indicate a function is not __declspec(nothrow)
> In my experience, C++ code typically doesn't use exception specifications. Instead the
exceptions that can be thrown are simply documented with the relevant doxygen tag.
