Unfortunately it works perfectly against trunk. I'm guessing the test case only fails if you
have XA transactions to recover?

Thanks for the great diagnosis! Yeah that line of code does look suspicious. I've patched
the code in trunk to avoid the ClassCastException - though I'm not too sure how to reproduce
the bug yet. I wonder could you try trunk and see if it now works for you?
