On the first part;

There is nothing in the agent that prevents configuring arbitrary channels. However, the server
will simply throw 404 (or something) because there is no servlet that handles this. I am in
favor of including this into the "negotiation" but that requires a change on the server.

Also, if we would want to support the different logs to different servers theory, in practice
we need to extend discovery. Now it always picks the first available server from a flat list
of urls. Even with round robin or rotating it would be very inefficient and mostly up to chance
if channels (ever) get synchronized (in time).

I feel these are outside of the scope of this issue though.
