FWIW, I am also -0 for the same reasons Josh has given. If we're going to do this in master but not the earlier branches, please give a test run of how terrible merging changes from earlier branches will be afterwards (I'd expect git probably will do the right thing, but I'd rather not be surprised to find otherwise).
