Subject [jira] [Commented] (ACCUMULO-4623) Update Accumulo version in documentation
Date Mon, 17 Apr 2017 20:26:41 GMT

Christopher Tubbs commented on ACCUMULO-4623:

The reason that version still showed in the documentation is because those examples were generated
with that version. Updating to the newest version may be misleading if the output has changed
slightly. With the old version shown, users can still get the gist of what's going on, but
if their version is slightly different than the one in the docs, that's easily explained away
when the docs show the old version. If it shows their version, and it looks slightly different,
users could be confused.

I don't particularly feel it is essential to update these docs to keep them in line with the
current version, especially if the output from the current version diverges slightly. I seem
to recall that we discussed generating the output during the build for these examples, but
that seemed to me like more effort than it was worth.

I don't mind the change... as long as the output is the same with the new version, but I don't
think we should make it a point to do this at all. I don't think it changes what the documentation
is communicating to the users.
