Subject [jira] [Commented] (ACCUMULO-4317) Accumulo client causes 'too many files open' due to infinite loop.
Date Mon, 20 Jun 2016 16:16:05 GMT

Josh Elser commented on ACCUMULO-4317:

bq. The patch definitely tests/asserts the sockets are closed, but I didn't see a conclusive
"Yup this is what caused the issue and now it's gone."

Yeah, that's one of the things I hope [] can help. I don't think
we heard explicitly about that yet.

bq. could we add a javadoc to TTimeoutTransport#create that states on failure it will clean
up any resources it creates

I like it. Thanks for the quick review, Bill!

> Accumulo stores hostnames in zookeeper, if the client can not resolve these then it will
continue to try to connect in a while(true) loop. This will eventually cause 'too many files
open' errors.
> Loop is in$executeRaw
> Bug: Should error out after some time, not retry infintely.
> Workaround: Add hostnames to /etc/hosts and restart.
