Subject [jira] [Commented] (ACCUMULO-4317) Accumulo client causes 'too many files open' due to infinite loop.
Date Mon, 20 Jun 2016 14:57:05 GMT

Josh Elser commented on ACCUMULO-4317:

bq. I saw you were a watcher so I knew you would get an email when I updated the ticket.

While I could be better at watching my email, I totally didn't see the update.

bq. Can you clarify what you are asking for?

We use blocker very infrequently, but when we do, it comes with the original intent of "this
needs to be fixed before the releases in fixVersion (and not be pushed out). At a minimum,
it would have been great to get a ping saying "Hey, I want to move this out". I'm working
on some testing here and then plan to commit it. It would be great to see this in both 1.7.2
and 1.8.0.

> Accumulo stores hostnames in zookeeper, if the client can not resolve these then it will
continue to try to connect in a while(true) loop. This will eventually cause 'too many files
open' errors.
> Loop is in$executeRaw
> Bug: Should error out after some time, not retry infintely.
> Workaround: Add hostnames to /etc/hosts and restart.
