Subject [jira] [Commented] (ACCUMULO-4144) User Manual PDF doesn't include copyright or license information
Date Fri, 12 Feb 2016 23:29:18 GMT

Christopher Tubbs commented on ACCUMULO-4144:

The HTML in >= 1.7 has a copyright notice (which will be updated with 1.7.1) and a mention
that it's available under the AL2 license. It does not have the "traditional license header"
we are required to put in our source files, like the one I just put in the 1.6.5 PDF under
this ticket. I think it's sufficient... at least until further guidance is provided. The rest
of the "traditional license header" really only applies to software/source files and it's
kinda confusing to see in documentation.

> We publish the user manual PDF outside of our normal site (in the maven repo), but the
generated PDF doesn't have any kind of copyright statement or a note about licensing.
> Since this is definitely published externally (and as a part of our release handling)
it seems like it should have some indication. Even though it's a "binary format" strictly
speaking, it's consumed as text by humans so we should give them some pointers.
> It seems like it should go on either the title page or a page immediately following it?
