Subject [jira] [Commented] (ACCUMULO-4032) Monitor ignores `-a` command line switch
Date Mon, 26 Oct 2015 04:14:27 GMT

Josh Elser commented on ACCUMULO-4032:

Before I forget, I do think this is good to fix for the bugfix versions, but I am a little
worried about unexpected pains for users when the monitor doesn't advertise its location using
the system's hostname instead of what is provided. The user *should* have provided the desired
hostname in the {{monitor}} file, but we certainly know that users don't always do what we
expect them to.

I'll add some release notes flag here and hopefully we remember to call out this change.

{{mvn verify -Psunny}} has passed, so I'll commit this shortly.

Thanks for the patch, [~volth]!

> Accumulo servers have `-a` command line switch which allows to specify alternative hostname
or IP address which the server will write to ZooKeeper and tell to other servers as its own
> It works perfectly with Master and Tablet servers but Monitor ignores the hostname (or
IP) specified in the command line and always write to ZooKeepes its autodetected hostname.
