I think there was also another ticket somewhere in which, given some condition, they'd actually
tear down the dfs pipeline and force a new one to be created which helped when the DFSClient
got "stuck" trying to write to some misbehaving datanode. That's relevant here too, but would
likely require more testing to include. I'll try to find the issue again.
