Subject [jira] [Commented] (ACCUMULO-3621) ExamplesIT_testDirList might get *really* big.
Date Wed, 27 May 2015 18:56:28 GMT

Christopher Tubbs commented on ACCUMULO-3621:

bq. That's /tmp in HDFS which, if normally configured, should be available as a scratch space
for anyone to use.

Yes, but the example doesn't read from HDFS, only the local filesystem, using File. This method,
{{getUsableDir()}} doesn't appear to have anything to do with the cluster part of the cluster
tests, either. Rather, it just returns a local filesystem directory (as a String) for the
test to use for whatever. At best, the standalone cluster would be running with LocalFileSystem
(or RawLocalFileSystem), in which case they'd be equivalent. Otherwise, it seems completely
strange to return a local filesystem object and simultaneously create an unrelated object
of the same name in HDFS.

WRT the other tests, you end up indexing a *lot* of data under test/target.
