Subject [jira] [Commented] (ACCUMULO-3621) ExamplesIT_testDirList might get *really* big.
Date Wed, 27 May 2015 18:41:18 GMT

Josh Elser commented on ACCUMULO-3621:

If the cluster type is STANDALONE and not MINI, it also just uses /tmp, which is probably
a bad thing... that could be quite large, too.

(Side note: for some reason, the AccumuloClusterIT.getUsableDir() it calls to determine the
directory tries to create /tmp in the cluster's FileSystem... which could be HDFS... it's
not clear why it should try to do this.)

That's /tmp in HDFS which, if normally configured, should be available as a scratch space
for anyone to use. I suppose that's a bit of a (unspoken) precondition of the standalone test
configuration. It would be good to capture these somewhere. Using something under {{target}}
isn't relevant for standalone tests as they should always be using HDFS.

WRT the other tests, you end up indexing a *lot* of data under test/target.
