Josh Elser commented on ACCUMULO-3698:
--------------------------------------

+1 Lucene integration would be pretty cool.

With a lot of our other integration components (e.g. Hive, Pig, etc), these are better suited
in the downstream project. It might make sense to reach out to the Lucene community as well
to see if they would be interested in this integration. They would also be in a much better
place to tell you how to start implementing this (classes and interfaces to extend/implement
in Lucene) whereas the Accumulo community is much better suited to helping design what the
table structures look like that this integration would create/use.

> Lucene stores its data in key-value pairs and Accumulo too. But Accumulo do provide search
capabilities like Lucene. Both are written in Java, can we have a system, which is combination
of the capabilities of both Accumulo and Lucene so that data can be searched by lucene API
which is actually stored in Accumulo as key value.
> Can we use Lucene API to store and search data in Accumulo? Is anyone working on this
or would like to through some light on the procedure and amount of work needed to do this?
