Subject [jira] [Resolved] (ACCUMULO-3430) Append authorization option to setauths command
Date Wed, 17 Dec 2014 17:29:14 GMT

Josh Elser resolved ACCUMULO-3430.
       Resolution: Won't Fix
    Fix Version/s: (was: 1.5.3)
                       (was: 1.6.2)
                       (was: 1.7.0)

I really don't like that we have two separate commands for this, but I'm not seeing a good
way to combine them in a way that's backwards compatible. So, it's just going to have to stay
the way it is.

> This has come up time and time again: there's no way to add new authorizations to a user's
existing authorizations. {{setauths}} only accepts a the full list of authorizations which
a user can have.
> Implementing an append option to {{setauths}} would be trivial; however, it would be
subject to a race condition (the user's authorizations change after the auths are fetched,
but before the new auths are set).
