Subject [jira] [Updated] (ACCUMULO-898) look into replacing cloudtrace
Date Wed, 22 Oct 2014 22:24:34 GMT

Billie Rinaldi updated ACCUMULO-898:
    Attachment: ACCUMULO-898-3-deleted.patch

Here's a new patch, ACCUMULO-898-3.patch. I've also attached the same thing in 4 different
pieces, in hopes of making it easier to review: -base (the interesting diffs), -generated
(thrift generated code), -package-import-only (java files where only imports or package declarations
were changed), and -deleted (removed files).

You could apply the pieces all at once with {{git apply ACCUMULO\-898\-3\-*}} (note the dash
after the 3), and that is equivalent to applying ACCUMULO-898-3.patch. The 4 sub-patches
were created using git diff -C, which attempts to detect copied and moved files, while the
full patch was created with git format-patch, so it is significantly larger.

One outstanding issue (among others, I'm sure) is that TraceRepoDeserializationTest fails.
I'd like to discuss how to fix this.

Also, the properties in the hadoop core-site.xml now look like the following. Accumulo tracing
is configured separately in accumulo-site.xml, and it has appropriate defaults.

zipkin has a reasonable visualization, and seems to work with thrift. We should look into
replacing our tracing with one of these.
