bq.  It sounds as if HSM gives you the ability to ask for a file on a particular medium or
with some other characteristic (local or remote). Does this feature work within one namespace,
or across namespaces?

 Personally, I don't understand how HSM is equivalent to Volume selection. It appears based
on what I read that HSM would allow you to create a file either in memory, disk, or some other
medium. Volumes are a mapping to an HDFS namespace Does HSM allow you to specify that you
want a file created in a particular namespace?
