Subject [jira] [Commented] (ACCUMULO-3056) Determine what desired repeated start/stop calls are on MAC
Date Sun, 10 Aug 2014 16:30:11 GMT

John Vines commented on ACCUMULO-3056:

Personally, I would like to see multiple starts and multiple stops to be noops.

More specifically, I would like MAC.start and MAC.stop to behave like start-all and stop-all
scripts. That is, if you call them repeatedly, it's a noop (unless somehow one of the processes
has been stopped at which point it would restart it.

> In 1.5, multiple calls to MiniAccumuloCluster.start() result in an IllegalStateException.
> In 1.6, while still advertised, the Exception was removed.
> In both versions, multiple calls to stop() pass gracefully.
> What exactly do we want: exceptions when trying to re-enter the state which we are already
in, or not?
