Subject [jira] [Commented] (ACCUMULO-2927) Make 'git clean -df' sufficient when switching between branches
Date Thu, 19 Jun 2014 16:38:24 GMT

Bill Havanki commented on ACCUMULO-2927:

The per-module .gitignore patches work fine. My only issue with them is that each .gitignore
lists the IDE files, so there's a lot of repetition over just leaving them as is in the top
.gitignore. I suppose that if, some day, a module gets split out into its own Git repo, then
it would need those IDE files listed, but I'd just add them when the time comes.

> Update .gitignore across the active development branches so that, upon switching from
one branch containing build artifacts to another, it is enough to run {{git clean -df}} (and
{{mvn clean}}) to remove leftovers from the prior branch and successfully build. Requiring
{{git clean -xdf}} leads to the destruction of IDE tracking files.
