Christopher Tubbs commented on ACCUMULO-2808:
---------------------------------------------

Because this issue requires packaging additional libraries not provided by Hadoop, we also
need to provide some of its dependencies, such as slf4j. While the version of slf4j provided
by Hadoop 2 is sufficient for Jetty 9, the version of slf4j provided by Hadoop 1 is too old,
and we'd need to package slf4j to support Jetty 9 on Hadoop 1, even if slf4j would otherwise
be expected from Hadoop.

> Jetty is very far out of date. Updating to a newer version (9), will ensure better downstream
integration, because Jetty 6 isn't really available in many distributions these days, and
is poorly maintained.
> Updating also ensures we can take advantage of newer features/security holes/etc.
