Billie Rinaldi commented on ACCUMULO-1327:
------------------------------------------

I completed a pass of converting the trunk manual to Markdown and am experimenting with converting
that to HTML. Two less than ideal points about Doxia are that it only converts markdown to
HTML as part of site generation, and the Markdown extensions it supports are not the same
as the ones supported by ASF CMS (which uses Python Markdown vs. Java Pegdown used by Doxia).
The main losses are that we would have to omit tags that would provide us with code highlighting
and table of contents support in CMS. Also, I'm not really happy with having to generate
a site.

> There are defects in the web-based documentation (see ACCUMULO-1104, ACCUMULO-1101, ACCUMULO-1100,
ACCUMUL-1104). Find a decent document standard that can produce nice online and offline documentation
formats, and move the current manual to that format.
