Subject [jira] [Created] (ACCUMULO-2463) Functional test simple.Examples should not use fixed directories in /tmp
Date Wed, 12 Mar 2014 21:24:48 GMT
Sean Busbey created ACCUMULO-2463:
-------------------------------------

Summary: Functional test simple.Examples should not use fixed directories in
/tmp
                 Key: ACCUMULO-2463
                 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/ACCUMULO-2463
             Project: Accumulo
          Issue Type: Bug
          Components: test
    Affects Versions: 1.4.4, 1.4.5
Environment: 1.4.5-SNAPSHOT on multi-tenant test system
            Reporter: Sean Busbey
            Priority: Minor
             Fix For: 1.4.6

when running functional tests, I ran things as one user and then later ran the tests as a
second user.

The test simple.Examples failed because the first user had written directories into /tmp that
the second could not override.

File "/home/busbey/accumulo-1.4.5-6faac42/test/system/auto/simple/examples.py", line 140,
in runTest
    self.execute('hadoop', 'fs', '-mkdir', "/tmp/input")
  File "/home/busbey/accumulo-1.4.5-6faac42/test/system/auto/simple/examples.py", line 62,
in execute
self.assert_(self.wait(self.runOn('localhost', cmd)), "command exited with error status.")

The tests should run in the current user's home directory on hdfs (this is what they do in
1.5.1+)

Workaround: As the user who first ran the tests (or an hdfs superuser)

-bash-4.1$ hdfs dfs -rm -R /tmp/input /tmp/files /tmp/splits.txt /tmp/failures
Moved: 'hdfs://nameservice1/tmp/input' to trash at: hdfs://nameservice1/user/hdfs/.Trash/Current
Moved: 'hdfs://nameservice1/tmp/files' to trash at: hdfs://nameservice1/user/hdfs/.Trash/Current
Moved: 'hdfs://nameservice1/tmp/splits.txt' to trash at: hdfs://nameservice1/user/hdfs/.Trash/Current
Moved: 'hdfs://nameservice1/tmp/failures' to trash at: hdfs://nameservice1/user/hdfs/.Trash/Current
-bash-4.1$
{noformat}
