I didn't have any particular mechanism in mind when I created this ticket.  It was in response
to your comment in an email thread:

is running in, but I think this should be used only as a fast-failure when constructing a

Were you imagining any particular implementation?

Also, I see this is a lower priority than SSL support in general, so I was feeling less pressure
to get this into 1.6 than the patch on ACCUMULO-1009.  Do you agree with that, or do you think
this is a required feature for any SSL support to get accepted?
