Subject [jira] [Commented] (ACCUMULO-1638) Update RPM Packages to use Conventional Unix Directories
Date Mon, 05 Aug 2013 17:22:48 GMT

Christopher Tubbs commented on ACCUMULO-1638:

I agree... with a few differences. We shouldn't use symlinks to undermine the system admin's
partitioning scheme. We should actually put logs in /var/log/accumulo by default (not just
a symlink to some other location). I'm working towards this while I work on ACCUMULO-210.

> The RPM settings currently install Accumulo in /opt. It is disruptive and confusing to
cluster operations to store application libraries, logs, and configuration in this way.
> We should update the build system to store accumulo in /usr/lib/accumulo and create symlinks
pointing the /etc/accumulo and /var/log/accumulo directories to the logically correct place
on disk.
