Subject [jira] [Commented] (ACCUMULO-1346) deleterows should take a -r option
Date Thu, 18 Jul 2013 14:00:49 GMT

Keith Turner commented on ACCUMULO-1346:

To expand a bit more on my earlier comment, could do the following :

 * create SingleRowFilter that extends o.a.a.core.iterators.user.RowFilter and filters a single
 * add a table operation deleteRow(table, row)
 * implementation of deleteRow() would call tableOperations().compact() with SingleRowFilter
and very restrictive range (there is a possibility that this range may overlap two tablets,
this could mostly be avoided by looking in metadata table to get an exact tablet range.. TabletLocator
would make this fairly simple)
 * deleterows -r in shell could call tableOperations().deleteRow()

I think this ticket could be marked as newbie.

> deleterows only allows an exclusive begin row and an inclusive end row. This is difficult
to use for deleting a single (large) row. It would be nice if a user could specify -r, similar
to scan.
