It's not like a flag we can just switch on globally, or per-property. The code that uses each
property needs to be inspected and possibly changed significantly before it could support
such behavior. And, this would have to happen for each configuration property. It could potentially
be quite burdensome... especially if, to satisfy this ticket, one spends an inordinate amount
of time addressing one that isn't important or useful useful instead of focusing on one that
