Sean Busbey commented on ACCUMULO-1421:
---------------------------------------

A compatibility layer would be a great idea. It also gives some room for dealing with future
incompatibilities. Hive (HIVE-3029) does this, and Pig (PIG-2686) used to. Probably a package,
as Hive does, would be best.

I think pushing for trunk is prudent, since the pressure to get 1.5 out is high and there's
uncertainty on how wide a change this needs.

> JobContext switches between an abstract class and an interface in hadoop 1 and 2, causing
runtime compatibility problems in the compiled Accumulo bytecode. Avoid the runtime problem
by using reflection to access the configuration object stored in the JobContext.
