Subject [jira] [Commented] (ACCUMULO-1361) VisibilityEvaluator throws NPE when passed a zero length byte array
Date Tue, 30 Apr 2013 03:24:16 GMT

Corey J. Nolet commented on ACCUMULO-1361:

I will mention that there have been a few cases where I've had to use the visibility filter
outside of accumulo when I'm dealing with objects that have visibility strings and I want
to do an initial evaluation of the objects before I decide to interact with Accumulo. Deciding
how to reconcile an update of such objects is one example.

> The following code snippet throws a NPE on a fairly recent version of 1.5. I would expect
it to return true, or at the very least, to throw a meaningful exception.

> VisibilityEvaluator evaluator = new VisibilityEvaluator(new Authorizations("a".getBytes()));
> ColumnVisibility cv = new ColumnVisibility(new byte[0]);

> boolean result = evaluator.evaluate(cv);
