Subject [jira] [Commented] (ACCUMULO-1335) DU command should be available through the java API
Date Thu, 25 Apr 2013 13:46:16 GMT

Keith Turner commented on ACCUMULO-1335:

I was thinking of something slightly different, where the tablet server does the entire operation
and returns the result. Because of clone, tables can reference files outside of their own
dir in HDFS. Therefore more info than the globStatus() of the table dir may be needed to
compute a tables space usage.

 * client using the java API calls connector.tableOperations().getDiskUsage(Set<String>
 * getDiskUsage() method in the TableOperationsImpl will call a Map<Set<String>,
Long> getDiskUsage(TCredentials creds, Set<String> tableIDs) method in the TabletClientService
 * When getDiskUsage() executes on tserver, it checks that user can read each table passed
 * getDiskUsage() on tablet server calls util.TableDiskUsage.getDiskUsage(), the new method
in the patch, and returns results.

> The du command that is available in the shell would be useful to have available in the
java API (e.g. through connector.instanceOperations() for example). It seems to be quite difficult
to recreate this value without the shell.
