Corey J. Nolet commented on ACCUMULO-1335:
------------------------------------------

Just to make sure I'm following- A client using the java API should be able to call connector.tableOperations().getDiskUsage(Set<String>
tables). The getDiskUsage() method in the TableOperationsImpl will call a getDiskUsage(String
table) method in the TabletClientService. The TabletServer's thrift server implementation
of TabletClientService.Iface will use the IDs of the tables, call out to the FileSystem.globStatus(new
Path("/accumulo/" + tableId), and grab the size for the table(s) it's responsible for unless
a failure occurs, at which point the tableOperations().getDiskUsage() method will pick a different
tablet server and repeat the process for calculating the size. Is this what you are proposing?

> The du command that is available in the shell would be useful to have available in the
java API (e.g. through connector.instanceOperations() for example). It seems to be quite difficult
to recreate this value without the shell.
