I agree.  The return type can not be changed w/o breaking the API, which forces us to create
a another method if we want to return additional info in the future.  If you return an object
like you suggested, i think it will give us more flexibility to mutate the API going forward
w/o breaking backwards compatibility.

When adding a method to the public API, the exceptions thrown and return type are not easily
changed.  So make sure you are happy w/ them.
