I'm mostly ambivalent about backporting to 1.5.0, but I worry that it will interfere with
testing, and we want to minimize changes that aren't related to packaging/bugfixes/documentation
at this point. I would suggest creating a new ticket, to be included in 1.5.1... unless a
compelling case can be made for including it in 1.5.0.
