[~supermallen] can weigh in better than I can. But the issue with the Codec interface is that
it's not made for all of the proper configuration variables needed for security initialization
and key management. That's the same reason the work he's doing for encrypting RFiles isn't
harnessing the compression codec, which I believe he has mentioned in that ticket.
