Subject [jira] [Created] (ACCUMULO-1022) Adjust scripts to calculate footprints with regard to native libraries
Date Fri, 01 Feb 2013 23:14:12 GMT
John Vines created ACCUMULO-1022:
------------------------------------

Summary: Adjust scripts to calculate footprints with regard to native libraries
                 Key: ACCUMULO-1022
                 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/ACCUMULO-1022
             Project: Accumulo
          Issue Type: Improvement
          Components: scripts
            Reporter: John Vines
            Assignee: John Vines
             Fix For: 1.6.0

Currently for configurations it's up to the user to ensure proper calculation of the tserver's
memory + in memory map with a variable in there whether or not they're using the native libraries.
Instead, I would like to see an accumulo-env.sh variable for tserver memory and then the max
java heap space is set with regards to the in memory map size in the accumulo-site.xml and
whether or not the libraries are valid. This means the scripts would test the native libraries
(both for existance and binary compatibility), and if they are valid, subtracting the in memory
map size from the xml from this value, and using that to set the java heap space.
