    A trivial counter for the number of times a Scanner yield'ed is what I was thinking. That
will let us measure it over time (Metrics2's "windowing" stuff going on in the background).
There is a "MutableCounter" which you can instantiate from the MetricsRegistry object in Metrics2TabletServerScanMetrics
which should precisely what you need (I really am not be facetious/sarcastic implying that
this should be quite simple)

the time between the beginning of the next/seek call and the yield? I don't see anything that
times next and seek calls now.....
    
    Yeah scan metrics are extremely "light" at present. Not expecting any extreme level of
effort here. Yet another back-burner task of mine :)
