    Discuss ACCUMULO-3079: collapsing the iterator stack to improve performance

    Applied the changes from the patch submitted by Adam Fuchs on [ACCUMULO-3079](
to master. This PR is to bring these changes back into discussion.  Created JMH benchmark
tests [here](
 I tried to isolate the tests to only the system iterators acting on data in memory.  
    I have attached the results from the benchmark tests. 
    The JMH tests can be built and run from [here](
After cloning the repo, simply run:
    `mvn clean install`
    `java -jar target/benchmarks.jar -i 100 -f 1`

You can merge this pull request into a Git repository by running:

    $ git pull ACCUMULO-3079-all

Alternatively you can review and apply these changes as the patch at:

To close this pull request, make a commit to your master/trunk branch
with (at least) the following in the commit message:

    This closes #244
