I'm looking it 4405 presently. Should have a patch up in a little while, 
another set of eyes to look at the problem/solution would be great.

I also sent out an email about log file names [1]. I think it would be 
good to make sure everyone is aware of this change (and whether or not 
the .out/err files are a bug) before cutting rc2, but that's just my 
opinion -- you're welcome to cut rc2 whenever you'd like, Mike :)
