about the actual use (and the caching issue).

When reading an rfile index, multilevelindex leaves the index in serialized form and does
binary searches on the serialized data. This reduces rfile open time (avoid serializing all
keys up front) and saves memory. When the index block is in cache it was copying the bytes
unnecessarily. Now the binary search on the serialized index can be done directly on the
cached data.
