    tl;dr Yes, the connection is unusable by the client, but the Accumulo code should retry
that implicitly.
    
    Expanded: After running my hacked-together `fastHalt` code to a TabletServer which didn't
yet have its lock, I then made a call to `authenticate`. The call to `authenticate` fails
with a `TTransportException -> IOException`. As such, `ServerClient` should implicitly
catch and rerun the operation after a brief pause -- exactly what we want it to do.
