Sitaraman,

Check out the ColumnVisibility[1] class. Some effort is taken to ensure 
that ColumnVisibilities are normalized yet logically-equivalent.

As far as compression goes, this would be handled at the file level 
(compress a sorted collection of Keys) instead of a the ColumnVisibility 
level. Check out RelativeKey [2] for some of that logic.
