It seems to me that instead of "dirname $0", it should use dirname `readlink -f "$0"`
I'm not a fan of adding stuff to the path... it's better to add scripts/binaries to the expected
path, then to put stuff all over, and manipulate the environment in a non-standard way to
find it.
