James M Snell commented on ABDERA-159:
--------------------------------------

the atom spec states that content using any text/* media type should not be base64 encoded,
so this is definitely a bug. I'm working on a fix

>                 Key: ABDERA-159
>                 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/ABDERA-159
>             Project: Abdera
>          Issue Type: Bug
>    Affects Versions: 0.4.0
>         Environment: Windows, Java 1.5
>            Reporter: Derek Carr
>
> Calling the following:
> entry.setContent(inputStream, "text/plain");
> This results in the binary content being base64 encoded even though content of type 'text/*'
does not need to be encoded. Expectation is that content should not be encoded when it is
a well-known content type (text, html, etc.)
